Arcos de Mismaloya

Ahoy, pirates, listen closely, for I’m about to tell you another tale that will make you fear or respect the ocean even more.

Once upon a time, in a place where the sea roared with fury, there were some cocky young adventurers who thought they were smarter than a parrot. They dared to cross Los Arcos in a small boat, those treacherous rocks that devour the unwary who get too close.

It was said that whoever dared to cross through the center would be crushed by the wrath of the sea. But these youngsters, with more arrogance than common sense, launched themselves into the abyss and were struck down by a wave that destroyed their vessel.

The young men fought for their lives as the violent ocean repeatedly smashed them against the rocks. With all their might, they fought against the imminent drowning, coming to feel that it would be impossible to escape that fatal adventure.

Then, as they were about to drown, they felt such a deep fear of death that they set about praying with blind faith, entrusting themselves to the divine and praying with the little strength they had left.

The Miracle of the Cross in the Vault of Los Arcos de Mismaloya

When the young men thought all was lost, they spotted a school of angelfish that suddenly appeared and proceeded to follow the course of these aquatic animals.

As they followed the direction of the fish, they emerged to the surface and spotted a white cross that had appeared on the ceiling of the vault.

Shocked by this discovery, the grateful young men attributed this event of salvation to divine intervention. With great enthusiasm, they headed towards the coast to seek help, when suddenly, looking back, they came across a spooky figure.

Encounter with an Evil Being

Frozen with panic, the young men contemplated a reddish silhouette whose appearance resembled the devil himself with long horns, while his raised hand seemed to bid farewell to the visitors, welcoming them to the underworld.

Feeling the presence of this evil being, they tried to flee in terror towards land, although everything seemed to get even more complicated, as the sea, now enraged, tried to stop their plans.

After a superhuman effort, the young men finally reached the beach, encouraged by the appearance of the cross in the vault of the arches.

The Beach of Salvation

Upon arriving and feeling liberated from a demonic death, both sailors looked at each other and noticed that they were completely covered in scratches and scrapes.

Still with latent fear, they attributed their injuries to the evil power and their salvation to the divine power.

Believe it or not, this legend is widely known in the bay and among all the tourists who visit Los Arcos National Park.

That’s the end of the story, comrades. Would you dare to challenge Los Arcos like those youngsters? I can only tell you that if you want to admire the beauty of this place without risking your souls, come aboard La Marigalante.

Don’t miss the adventure!
